Meet Debra Bernier

"My art reflects the unity between humans and nature, with each sculpture inviting others to appreciate the big stories hidden in the smallest elements of the natural world."
The earth, the ocean, even the moon and its effects on the tides, play a part in the harmonious and unique shaping of driftwood. Debra considers herself a co-creator and story teller, revealing the hidden past and spirit of the wood. Her art speaks of the unity of humans and nature. Debra hopes that ‘Shaping Spirit Sculptures’ will inspire others to wonder about the big stories hidden in the little things.

“When we heal ourselves, we heal others. When we heal others, we heal ourselves.”

* * * * * * *

My mission as an artist is to create sculptures that embody deep feelings, a tangible symbol of the intangible.

Sometimes artwork allows us to speak when words fail. We are each on a journey of healing. Acknowledging this helps us to connect and support each other. If you would like to contribute to this cause and make a donation, this actions helps fund my new projects of casting pieces that are affordable and accessible for people. These sculptures are often created on themes like childhood healing, loss and celebrating the complexity of aging.

I'm always open to hearing suggestions for new sculptures / symbols for our shared journey. With gratitude for your interest and support of my artwork, Debra

With gratitude,

Debra
