Artist-Created Original

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden repair") is an ancient Japanese art. It is the art of repairing or mending of broken pottery with gold. It treats breakage and repair as part of an object's history, embracing flaws and imperfections to create a stronger, more beautiful piece of art.

When I first learned about this technique, I felt we are akin to pottery. We are both simultaneously strong and fragile. We are all like vessels; we carry and hold things within us. And like the clay that is used to create pottery, we are impressionable. For all these reasons, I felt called to create a Kintsugi Child.

Of all my sculptures created over the years, this is the one I am most proud of. It was crafted to be small enough to fit comfortably in one's hands. It acts as a symbol for childhood healing. I have deep respect for those who have braved the journey within, to be introspective and heal themselves. I felt there needed to be a tangible item in honor of this inner growth. This is especially essential for generational healing.

Though our bodies age, the inner child remains ever present. The child yearns for acknowledgment and acceptance. It's my hope that Kintsugi Child finds its way into people's hands and homes and acts as a reminder of the importance of self love.

Frequently asked questions

Are these all your originals?

Yes, every piece is an original design by me, Debra Bernier. There are many imitators online, unfortunately, but everything you see here are all my true, authentic creations — shaped from 15 years of art and soul, living on the West Coast of BC. Each order is sent with a card and intention, carrying a part of my spirit and the spirit of the land, to you.

Do you accept commissions?

I don’t take formal commissions, but I love creating new pieces! I’m always happy to explore how my existing designs can be customized to your vision — whether that means feathers, crystals, animals, or other touches. Send me a note to and we’ll see what we can bring to life together.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes, we do! You can connect with us directly, or through Faire for wholesale options.
We also offer rewards for customers who connect us with wholesale vendors - so get in touch if there's a shop near you that you feel Debra's work would be perfect for :)

How long will it take to receive my order?

Limited Edition pieces ship within 24 hours, and made-to-order pieces ship within 2–5 business days.
Once your order is shipped, you’ll receive your tracking link - delivery times vary by location, but typically take 5–12 business days after shipping. If you need something by a specific date, please reach out and we’ll do our best to help :)

What is your return policy?

We hope you love your order, but if something's not right, please Contact Us first to help fix the situation. Returns are accepted within 30 days.

Are your materials sourced sustainably?

Whenever possible, sustainability guides our material choices. The driftwood used in my sculptures is respectfully collected from very remote beaches and carefully sterilized before use. Bark and shells are sourced through sustainable suppliers whenever available. The natural environment is deeply precious to me, and I make ongoing efforts to minimize impact — including frequently using recycled and eco-conscious packaging materials.
